Department: Higher Education and Workforce Development

Mission: Northwest Missouri State University is hereby designated and shall hereafter be operated as an institution with a statewide mission in educator preparation, emergency and disaster management, and profession-based learning.

Function: The Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents has and exercises the corporate powers prescribed by law; develops policy and has responsibility for sound resource management of the University; determines general, educational and financial policies; and has the power to carry out any other functions which are permitted by its bylaws except as limited by law.

Political Requirements: Not more than four voting members shall belong to any one political party.

Geographic Requirements: yes, six of the voting members must live in the University's 17-county district (1 must live in Nodaway County). No more than 2 voting members shall be residents of the same county.
