Mission:

Function: The Missouri State Board of Health reviews and advises on the rules and regulations promoted by the Department of Health and Senior Services; and provides comment to the Director of the Department of Health and Senior Services regarding the promulgation of rules and regulations by the Department of Health, formulation of the department's proposed budget, and planning for and operation of the Department of Health and Senior Services.

Appointed members: 9

Term length: 4 years and until successor appointed; one reappointment allowed.

Compensation: Members receive actual and necessary expenses each day of actual attendance.

Member Requirements: Three members must be physicians and surgeons licensed by the state board of registration for the healing arts of Missouri, one of whom shall have expertise in geriatrics. One member must be a dentist licensed by the Missouri Dental Board. One member must be a person with expertise in nutrition. In making the four remaining appointments, the Governor shall give consideration to individuals having a special interest in public health, disability-related issues, or gerontology, including senior citizens.

Political Requirements: Not more than five of the members shall be from the same political party.
