Mission: The Missouri Veterinary Medical Board protects the public from incompetence, misconduct, gross negligence, fraud, misrepresentation, or dishonesty; licenses only "qualified" professionals by examination and evaluation of minimum competency; enforces standards by implementing legislation and administrative rules; encourages economic development and partnerships with existing small businesses.

Function: The Missouri Veterinary Medical Board examines and determines qualifications for the licensing of veterinarians; provides for the registration of veterinary technicians; issues veterinary facility permits; issues, renews, denies, suspends, revokes, places on probation or otherwise disciplines licenses, certificates, and permits; maintains annual renewal records; issues temporary licenses under certain conditions; adopts rules and regulations to execute and enforce statutory law; establishes fees for licenses and facility permits at a level to produce revenues for the execution of the practice act; investigates complaints based on alleged violations of the practice act; addresses and disposes of complaints through disciplinary hearings, informal conferences or other legal means if necessary; and establishes minimum standards for the practice of veterinary medicine.
